From Beats to Blueprints: Reimagining Water Justice

At the inaugural Ideas Mosaic session, Currents of Change, Dr. Osman joined hip hop artist and Stanford U.S. Cultural Policy Fellow Benny Starr in an interdisciplinary dialogue on one of the most pressing infrastructure challenges in the United States: equitable access to safe drinking water.

Bringing together perspectives from civil engineering and cultural practice, the conversation highlighted how technical expertise and creative imagination can work in tandem to address systemic inequities. While the science to solve water infrastructure challenges already exists, both speakers emphasized that progress ultimately depends on civic will, equity-centered investment, and accountability to affected communities.

The event underscored the central theme of Ideas Mosaic: that meaningful solutions emerge when disciplines converge in service of a more just and sustainable future.
