Opportunities

Openings

  • We are always interested in welcoming motivated graduate students to work on crucial projects in water equity, resilient water infrastructure systems, and operationalizing equity and environmental justice in civil infrastructure systems. Please note that openings depend on funding and group capacity. Candidates with strong backgrounds in engineering, mathematics, climate, and social sciences are encouraged to apply through the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Note: We are not seeking graduate students at this time (until 2025).

  • We are not seeking any post-doctoral fellows at this time (2023-2024 academic year).  If you are finishing your PhD in the coming year and are interested in discussing opportunities in our lab, you are encouraged to contact Dr. Osman early on in your search. Post-Doctoral opportunities will most likely be advertised through word-of-mouth and on our lab website. Stay tuned for updates!

  • Undergraduate students in Stanford Civil and Environmental Engineering, Doerr School of Sustainability, Computer Science, and other relevant disciplines are encouraged to contact Dr. Osman about open research positions in the lab.

Students outside Stanford are encouraged to apply to SURF . We are planning to welcome 2-3 talented and super-motivated undergraduate students to work with us on a research project that mutually interests us, in the summer each year. Students from challenging backgrounds and minority groups in STEM will be given special preference. There is no specific application window to apply to this – interested students can email us (osmanlabinquiries@gmail.com ) throughout the year along with a recent CV or resume, and two brief personal and research statements of approx. 250 words each. We will reach out to you if we are interested in early spring.
